Several months ago I got an email from Jamie Beckman, who asked if she could ask me a few questions for a feature in Health magazine. I agreed and she and I spoke on the phone and emailed back and forth a few times.
The article, called “How Diet Bloggers Stay Slim” asks several different weight loss bloggers questions about what tips and techniques work for them in maintaining or losing their weight. I start off the article by talking about how it is easy to make eating mistakes when we are on the go because it takes us out of our routine.
Other bloggers who have lost weight and kept it off are featured such as Cammy, Annabel, Shelley, and Josie.
One thing that struck me about being interviewed was how often the same questions come up when it comes to weight loss. It doesn’t matter if I’m talking to someone in New York, England, or California. The questions are often very similar
How to stop snacking or stay on track. What are ways that the average person can shop smarter. What are some tricks for making this process easier?
Those kinds of questions are common because we all have the same struggles no matter who we are and where we live. No matter how many times you have started or how many times you have quit – you’ve got to find those answers out for yourself. I still remember seeing a feature in a woman’s magazine about a young woman who lost over 100 pounds. It may have been Family Circle but I’m not sure. I tore the article out of the magazine and put it on my refrigerator. Seeing her before and after pictures (mine are here) did help me believe that I could do it too. I didn’t lose weight right away after I read that article, but it did give me motivation.
I hope articles like the one in Health that give practical (not crazy, dumb) advice can be an encouragement to you. Even though I’m in maintenance, I still like getting ideas on healthy foods, encouragement to exercise more, and strategies on feeding my family wisely from magazines, blogs like yours, emails, and books.
Never stop learning – right? Diane

A little off topic, but I love your hair, Diane! (okay, maybe that’s A LOT off topic. hehe)
That’s my “go to church” hair. I don’t curl it very often because it takes forever.
I noticed the hair right away, too. Very nice! Thanks for being that voice of inspiration for me that I need to stay engaged in weight loss and especially eating healthy. You rock!
